I took my first trip of the season to the Farmer’s Market on Sunday. Along with the spring vegetables and strawberries, and the leftover apples and potatoes from last season, there were tons of flowers and seedlings waiting to be planted. The colors were amazing–every shade of the rainbow all in a sea of green.

I bought a new rug for my living room in hopes of brightening things up and getting rid of the super-stained, hand-me-down rug that I’d been using. I probably didn’t pick a great color, considering I eat most of my meals over this rug on my coffee table, but I like how it looks with all my furniture in place. It definitely makes the room look more open and clean.

My irises are starting to bloom! The light this morning wasn’t that great, so this picture didn’t turn out as well as I wanted, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to capture it, just in case I don’t get home before the sun sets tonight.

Things aren’t going as well with this little project as I had hoped. However, I did find out there’s a chance I’ll be hitting the beach with my sister and some friends come January. This is my motivation to reach my fitness goals:

It fits now, but I wouldn’t exactly go out in public wearing it, if you know what I mean. I took “before” photos (no, I won’t post them) so that I can compare in a couple of months and see my progress. I’ll keep you posted.

Finally got around to setting up my laptop expansion station in my office. It’s amazing what having a separate workspace will do for your creativity and motivation. I’ve been working ever since I finished hooking everything up.

I wish I could spend my days doing this. Gizmo’s favorite place to be once it’s warm enough to finally open the windows:

I added some color to the landscape this morning to tide me over until the irises, daisies and black-eyed susans bloom later this summer. It’s looking better and better with ever plant I get in there. And it looks like the honeysuckle is getting ready to bloom, too.

I attended the Maryland Writers’ Association Writing Conference today and this is the cool bag we got.

I thought the textures and colors of these rocks against the fence in the background looked interesting this morning. They line the parking lot of my office.

A little something from my “wild patch” in my back yard. The previous owners must have planted this patch. I used to think it was all weeds until things started to bloom. Now I’m falling in love with the different colors and textures.
